comfort foods

If I am a tad depress I’ll just have a chocolate to boost me up. If I am happy or we have some special occasion I absolutely must have this in our dining table. If its rainy I’ll have it. Or happy or just thinking of the food, and salivating after it, then we must it.. these are the foods that we usually have on our dining table in ordinary, special occasion or..when I am longing or hungry for it

Cheese sticks. One of my faves. I love to make them and eat this food. Recently we saw on quickfire a new recipe. We usually just have cheese, carrots and bell pepper for the cheese sticks but we tried the one made by chef rosebud’s (cheese, siling haba and nori) . it was ok. I love it but my nephews and niece doesn’t like it so we tend to just stick w/ the plain one that only have cheese on it.

Hot Choco. Just waking up with the sweet aroma of this one will make you get up from your bed.  I love to have this and pandesal for my breakfast.

Ice cream. Everybody likes Ice cream. I love rocky road, quezo real, strawberry or mango.

Genre(s): high school, romance

Hana Yori Dango is the story of Makino Tsukushi, a 16 year old girl from the wrong side of the tracks who is a student at Eitoku Gakuen, a very exclusive school that is attended by the richest of society's children. Tsukushi, shy at first, feels uncomfortable and out of place amongst the rich, snobby kids at her school and she cannot wait until the time, two years later, when she will graduate. However despite finding a new friend to talk to at school, Tsukushi's problems at Eitoku take a sudden turn for the worse when she crosses the path of the F4.
The F4 are the 4 richest guys at Eitoku Gakuen, and for all intents and purposes, they rule the school. They wander around the campus unchallenged by teacher or student, they flaunt the school dress code by not wearing their uniforms, and never seem to go to class.

The F4 are:
• Hanazawa Rui, 18, scruffy reddish-brown hair.
• Nishikado Soujirou, 18, short, straight black hair.
• Mimasaka Akira, 18, long wavy brown hair.
• Doumyouji Tsukasa, 17, short dark hair curly on top.

Doumyouji Tsukasa is the leader of the F4, and the one with the shortest temper. He rules the school by intimidation. The entire student body is either afraid of him or in awe of him. Doumyouji has been known to terrorize any poor student is who is unfortunate enough to fall in his path. What he does (with the support of the F4) is place a red tag in the locker of the intended victim. The red tag is a sign to the rest of the school that the victim has somehow offended the F4 and is now a target for their abuse. The whole school unites to make the victim's life hell. Just such a thing happens to Tsukushi

Tsukushi stands up to Doumyouji while defending her friend Makiko, who had fallen down some stairs and had landed on the angry Doumyouji. Doumyouji decides to red tag Tsukushi's locker, and this prompts the entire school to heap abuse on her. At first, Tsukushi is afraid of Doumyouji and is intimidated by the F4. She runs away from her attackers. However when she is confronted by Doumyouji, her fighting spirit comes to life, and she decides to do the unthinkable: Challenge the F4! Tsukushi declares that she will not take any crap from the F4 and the rest of the school, and vows to fight back. She declares war on the F4 with a red tag of her own. Tsukushi is a strong girl, not given to backing down from a challenge
Tsukushi's unexpected resistance piques Doumyouji's interest. Her strength proves to be attractive to him, and he ends up having a crush on her, even though they are 'at war' with each other. Tsukushi, on the other hand, does not seem to be that impressed with the rich, arrogant Doumyouji, and instead finds herself attracted to another member of the F4, the quiet, sensitive violin player, Hanazawa Rui. This sets up an explosive triangle of love and hate relationships, as Tsukushi finds herself in the middle of a tug of war between Rui and Doumyouji.Tsukushi has to face the pressure of the school's rapidly shifting opinion of her, her status as a poor girl in a rich school, and her attraction to a cool but mysterious guy (Rui) while at the same time dealing with the advances of Doumyouji

I used to watched meteor garden years ago. I have to rush home to watch it and if I have class I’ll ask my sister what happened. It’s the same now in boys over flowers that’s been made in korea. (I just bought a cd though so I’ll be able to do a marathon and watched it the whole day. After watching it I also bought the hanayori dango (japanese). At first I was bored but as the story progress I got hooked by it. I think the writer and the director deliver the story well. I really feel what the character is trying to convey. It was really touching happened in the end specially when Doumyouji remembers who Tsukushi is in his life. I even downloaded the OST flavour of life by UTADA Hikaru as my ring tone. 
The story was funny and I feel tears brimming in my eyes in some scenes.:) I’ve watched this 5 times now! A friend recommend this to me years ago but I thought its not good and I only got started to watch Japanese movies/tv series when she let me borrowed PRIDE. I should have listened to her. I like this one more that MG and BOF. MG1 is okay and the scenes are great. They wrecked it when they made MG2. I stopped watching it after that.

So guys, give this one a chance! Please watch it!

Recipe

Hey guys! I am going to post some recipes that we like to eat. Most of them are the favorite foods by BICOLANO’s  . try to cook it. It’s yummy!

LAING
This dish is always in our menu. Almost all foods cooked by us bicolano’s have coconut milk extract. And of course there’s always siling labuyo. If you’re not a lover of siling labuyo them you might not be a bicolano/bicolana! If it’s hot it’s yummier.. :)

I am not fond of eating foods w/ gata but I learned to love to eat this one. It’s the only vegetable that I would eat.

10 pcs coconuts, grated and milk extracted
1 cup alamang puree (alamang juice extracted)
2 pcs siling pansigang, chopped
1 pc big onion, chopped
2 kgs gabi or taro leaves, dried and shredded

1. Boil gata or coconut milk with alamang puree in a saucepan or work.
2. Add sili and onion.
3. Add gabi leaves. Simmer for 1 hour. When the leaves are fully wilted, the dish is cooked.

PILI-SESAME BRITTLE

4 cups pili nuts, toasted and coarsely chopped
Pinch of salt
½ cup butter
1 cup sesame seeds, toasted
2 cups sugar
2 tbsp water

1. In a bowl, combine chopped nuts, salt, butter and sesame seeds.
2. In a casserole, combine sugar and water and cook over medium heat until mixture reaches hard ball stage, about 250°F. Pour over the nut mixture and toss with a wooden spoon.
3. Grease a baking sheet with oil.
4. Pour mixture into baking sheet, spreading out evenly with a rubber spatula. Allow to set and cool down.
5. Cut into strips or bars when cold.
6. Wrap in colored cellophane paper.

BICOL EXPRESS
I am not really fond of eating this one. But everyone’s been asking me if I know how to cook this or if I have the recipe. Hehe.. I can cook but I would really refer to eat foods. It is much more enjoyable that way. (but I also like to cook. It’s fun but sometimes you’ll be criticize. Hmp..my niece rated my first time to cook tinolang manok below average..hays)

2 pcs coconuts, grated and milk squeezed
1 pc big onion, sliced alamang puree
Pork slices (optional)
1 kg siling haba, sliced diagonally into 1 cm. widths

1. Boil gata or coconut milk with onion, alamang puree and pork slices.
2. Add the sili.
3. Simmer until the sili is wilted.

Santan

Also called coco jam. I remember when we we’re kids that I used to eat this one a lot. I love sweets  My nephew even got hooked by it. But it’s tastier if home cooked. The commercialized coco jams are not that good.

Half sankaka or panotsa
4 cups milkfrom 6 grated coconuts
200 grams pili nuts, shelled and peeled
Dash of salt

1. Break panotsa into small pieces. Put in a pan.
2. Add coconut milk and cook over high heat. Bring to aboil and cook until the panotsa melts completely.
3. Turn heat to medium. While continuing to cook the mixture, add the pili nuts and salt.
4. Pour into molds and allow to set.

BADUYA/MARUYA

Its is more known as baduya but in some places in bicol it has a different name. In our town we call it “sinapot”. Just thinking of it, I want to eat it right now!
1 cup rice flour
Dash of salt
1 tsp baking powder
2 whole eggs, beaten
½ cup water
1 tsp cooking oil
Saba bananas, peeled and sliced lengthwise

1. In a bowl, sift together all dry ingredients. Set aside.
2. Mix together eggs, water and oil. Fold in dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
3. Dip 2 or 3 slices os saba in the batter and deep-fry as a cake until golden brown. Remove and drain off excess oil on paper towel.

ADOBONG PATA

This is my favorite! My sisters gave me a weird look when I requested that the only thing I want to eat on my graduation is this. I don’t want them to cooked (or order foods in amber). That would be more expensive. What’s important is just to eat the food that is available and eat it together as family. Anyways I am not inviting anyone. My friends and I have already celebrated our grad party the day before and I don’t want them to bother so much.

1 pc pata or pork knuckle, preferably the front part
1 cup bulaklak ng saging or banana heart
1 tbsp peppercorns
2 cups vinegar+ 1 cup water
1 pc onion, sliced
Soy sauce and brown sugar to taste

1. Cut pork knuckle into 6 pcs
2. Put all ingredients in a pot and boil until pata is tender.

Fall for you by second hand serenade

Fall for you by Second hand SErenade

I cant get this song out of my head. after watching Boys over flower I heard this song from my younger sis MP4's and it got stuck. Everytime I hear it I have some flashback of the scenes that touched moi specially at the time that jandi made herself fall to the pool to force joon pyo to remember her. I dont know but I felt my heart crying out for her ;)

I think this song is suited for this k-drama.

Everyday I have to listen to this and before I sleep I just have to listen to it :) it's weird Iam not in love or anything I am not even longing for lost love but this song just have a hold in me. dont know why..

top ten k-dramas that I love to watch

top 10 k-dramas

what's you're top 10 k-dramas?

mine:

1.coffee prince
2.hello miss
3.princess hours
4.started with a kiss
5.they kissed again
6.full house
7.my bratty princess
8.boys over flowers
9.lovers in paris
10.1% of anything

after exams or before exams my way of relaxing is to watch k-dramas that have received lots of reviews from the viewers in the forums. I Used to do k-drama marathon (watching it for several hours. have to sleep the next day.) or if I have the whole house for myself :)

I have ISWAK, they kissed again, bratty princess, 1% of anything, boys over flowers and hello miss in my collection. But I think I'll buy coffee prince and watch it again and again (I only borrowed the cd from a friend a year ago but now I regret for not buying one). I like the soundtrack and have it in my mobile phone. :)

My elder sisters are not so into k-dramas. I got my younger sister, honey, to be also interested but not that much. I got hooked by watching nonstop in arirang years ago. So thats where it all started.

I think fall for you by second hand serenade is suited to be played in boys over flowers :)
It's my top song this week. I dont know why. But after watching episode 24 of boys over flowers the song got stuck in my mind..I am not in love right now but the song suited my mood.. weird..

twilight bug: did you caught it too?

warning: twilight bug has been sporadically spreading throughout the world

have you got it? I used to but Iam cured now. :) my younger cousin told me that she's into twilight so I was curious and there's a movie that's being shown already in the movie houses here. so I've read it. Had to admit it was ok. read the 4 books in 3 consecutive days only sleeping when I cant keep my eyes.

book 1 was ok. book 2 it lack luster, no excitement but it revealed jacob's secret. book 3 was great. book 4 was a bit weird (jacob's and bella's daughter?-- didn't even entered my mind that it will come to that).

after scourging my eyes and mind over that I cant wait for the next one. But I haven't watch the movie. I tend to be disappointed in books that I've read then turned into a movie. I think some of the characters didn't stand up for the characters that I've imagined them to be.

books that I love to read over and over again

Top 10 books that I love to read

1. Perfect by Judith Mcnaught
2. Bewitching by Jill Barnett
3. Dreaming by Jill Barnett
4. The Bride by Julie Garwood
5. Love Only Once by Johanna Lindsey
6. Murder List by Julie garwood
7. Harry Potter (1-7)
8. Sword of truth Series
9. LOTR
10.twilight saga

Perfect- the story is just perfect.

Bewitching- I love to read fantasy books specially about magic, witches, angels etc. I've read this when I was in High School and the story was good.

Dreaming- found the e-book of this! I was trying to find bewitching but cant find it. I finally found someone that I am close to that also love to read pocketbooks and novels (in grade school I started reading mills and boons when I was in grade 3. My elder sisters are fond of reading. I think it helped me in constructing and understand big words at that time. High school I was the only one in our group who likes to read. been reading nancy drew, love stories sweet dreams, hardy boys and then it was up to novels that are thicker than I usually read.In college my buddies are all boys. cant force them to read. had no one to exchange books. but eventually I met one that also love to read but he got me reading sword of truth which I learned to love to read also.) so, I was looking for bewitching and googled it. luckily I found a website that I can look for ebooks and there I found lots of books that I like and now I dont have to buy books i'll just download it to my PC and read it for a few hours. no more regrets in buying. :) I'll recommend for you to try reading bewitching and dreaming. It made me laugh and shed a few tears. :)

Love Only Once - its the first book of julie garwood that I've read and from there I am now a follower/fan of julie garwood. i've read all the books about the mallory saga

Murder List- love it! had me hanging throughout the story.

Harry Potter- at first I thought it was just for kids so I never ever glance at it or even curious enough what made other go gaga over it. Our eldest sis bought one for our youngest (the first book). Then my sister told me that it was good and she'll like to buy the second one. So it made me curious and read it. after that were all a fan of that. But after reading the 6th one I was disappointed I promised myself that's the end of it I would not buy the last one. How can they kill Dumbledore! We waited for that book for a year and for what? to be sad about the ending. But I ate my words..the day that the last one was released here I was the one who urged my elder sis to go and buy one right away! Even if its my finals I've read the whole book and ....well I was not surprise. the ending was not so good but then it was not bad either. it was just ...a bit not so enlightening..in my frustrations I found myself reading the works of some of the books fan and I found some stories that I like :) maybe if I have time i'll write one that starts in book 6 or book 4..hmmm try www.fanfiction.net

sword of truth- a classmate recommend me to read this so I did. he had a collection of it and I got hooked. I love gratch the gar! :) try the first book and I am sure you'll get hooked by it too :)

LOTR - good. hands down. It was well written. :) but I have to admit it the pages where the caharcter sang or recite a poem or whatever I skip there :)

twilight saga - good

Can you recommend other books that you also love? :)
